Getting started — 4 simple steps
Choose your market and pair
At the top of the Dashboard use the Market dropdown to choose Forex, Crypto, Stocks, Indices, or Commodities. Then pick your Pair — for example EUR/USD for forex or BTC/USDT for crypto.
Select a timeframe
Beginners: start with H1 (1 hour). It is not too fast like 1-minute charts and not too slow. Each candle represents 1 hour of price action. Daily (D1) is great for swing traders who hold for days.
Pick an ICT strategy
Beginners: start with Order Block or Fair Value Gap. These are the foundation of ICT. Once comfortable, explore Liquidity Sweep and Market Structure. Each strategy shows a full explanation below the signal.
Read and act on your signal
Click Get Signal. You will see BUY, SELL, or WAIT with Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit levels. Never ignore Stop Loss — it protects your account. The confluence score shows how strong the signal is.
Understanding the signal panel
BUY / SELL / WAIT — what does it mean?
BUY — ICT concepts suggest price may move up. Consider a long position.

SELL — ICT concepts suggest price may move down. Consider a short position.

WAIT — No clear signal. Patience is a trade. Waiting is often the best decision.

Always do your own analysis before trading real money.
Entry, Stop Loss and Take Profit
Entry — the price level to consider opening your trade.

Stop Loss (SL) — closes your trade automatically to limit losses. Always set this. Never trade without a stop loss.

Take Profit (TP) — the target price where you close for a profit.

Risk/Reward (R:R) — 1:2 means you risk $1 to potentially make $2. Always aim for at least 1:2.
Confidence score explained
The confluence score measures how many ICT concepts align to support the signal.

70–100% — High confidence. Multiple factors align.

50–69% — Medium confidence. Some factors align.

Below 50% — Low confidence. Consider waiting for a better setup.
ICT concepts explained simply
Order Block (OB)
An Order Block is the last opposite-color candle before a strong move. For a bullish OB find the last red candle before price shoots up. Smart money placed buy orders in this zone. When price returns to it that is your entry.
Fair Value Gap (FVG)
A Fair Value Gap is a gap between 3 candles where price moved too fast. Candle 1 high does not overlap with Candle 3 low. Price almost always returns to fill this gap. Wait for price to return to the FVG zone then enter.
Market Structure Shift
Bullish structure means Higher Highs and Higher Lows. A Change of Character (CHoCH) happens when price breaks a key level signalling the trend is flipping. Wait for the CHoCH then trade the new direction.
Liquidity Sweep
Smart money hunts stop losses before reversing. Price dips below a recent low triggering stops then reverses sharply upward. A sweep followed by a strong reversal candle is a high-probability ICT entry signal.
Premium and Discount
Discount is below the 50% midpoint of a range — smart money buys here. Premium is above the 50% midpoint — smart money sells here. Only buy in discount and only sell in premium. Never buy at the top of a range.
OTE — Optimal Trade Entry
The 61.8% to 79% Fibonacci retracement zone after a strong move. After a bullish impulse wait for price to pull back into the OTE zone. Combine with an Order Block for maximum confluence and best risk to reward.
Killzone Sessions
Best trading windows: London Open 2am–5am NY time — highest quality setups. NY Open 7am–10am NY time — second major window. Silver Bullet 10am–11am NY — FVG entries only. Avoid trading outside these hours.
SMT Divergence
EUR/USD and GBP/USD normally move together. When EUR/USD makes a new low but GBP/USD does not that is an SMT divergence — smart money is active and a reversal is likely. Look for this at key liquidity levels.
Frequently asked questions
Is CandleIQ free to use?
Yes, CandleIQ is completely free. You can generate signals, read news, and access all educational content at no cost. We may introduce a premium tier for advanced features in the future but the core platform will always remain free.
Are these signals guaranteed to be profitable?
No. CandleIQ is an educational platform, not a financial advisor. All signals are generated for learning purposes to help you understand ICT concepts. Trading always carries risk of loss. Never trade money you cannot afford to lose and always do your own analysis.
Which timeframe should beginners use?
We recommend starting with H1 (1 hour) or H4 (4 hours). These timeframes filter noise and give clearer ICT setups. Once you understand the concepts you can scale down to M15 or M30 for more active trading.
What is ICT and why is it used here?
ICT stands for Inner Circle Trader — a methodology by Michael J. Huddleston. It focuses on how large institutions move price using Order Blocks, Fair Value Gaps, and Liquidity. CandleIQ uses ICT because it is one of the most widely followed retail trading methodologies with a strong educational community.
